<description>Hi Ben, Thanks for writing. At first I had to do a double-take on your name as I thought of Ben Wasson, the great columnist who grew up with Walker Percy and Shelby Foote in Greenville – and was a Delta Democrat-Times columnist when I was there. Congratulations to you, you are the first comment on my blog, which was just started a few days ago. You mentioned Will Percy ... I knew/know several Percys, as Walker introduced me to the Carters and Billy and his parents Sarah and LeRoy Percy hosted me on my first visit to Greenville. Turned out Billy was a fraternity brother of mine from UVA ... St. Anthony Hall, which Walker mentioned in Love in the Ruins. I know Billy has a son named WIll. I&#039;ve read books on and by William Alexander Percy. On which are your writing your autobiography? Another Percy, Melissa, is married to my cousin, Bo Spalding here in Atlanta. And yes, greatest album ... hearing Lucinda Williams on that CD took me back to riding all those roads around Mississippi. Best, Chris

<description>Thanks for this post! The Carters have done a lot of good in the world. I came across your blog b/c I&#039;m writing a biography of Will Percy and so have been doing a lot of thinking about the Carters lately. Your description of Greenville rings true...
All the best,
Ben Wise
PS-and Car Wheels on a Gravel road has to be one of the best albums ever made...
